Spiritual Abuse

    Post 2 of 203

Spiritual Abuse is quite an insidious form of coercive control as it is often carried out by a person in a position of ‘moral or religious superiority’, or someone the victims admire and look to for guidance and support. The abuse is often carried out whilst claiming to be either for the victim’s ‘own good’, or for the greater good. It is sometimes referred to a Religious abuse, but is not exclusive to a religious setting or by religious people. Spiritual abuse can happen in relationships, families, the workplace, or the community. It can also happen in political or ideological movements and cults.
