Sex Addiction

People with a sex addiction believe if they could just have great unlimited sex with a partner, their sexual addiction would be solved. This isn’t true and those people are seriously disappointed when they find that approach doesn’t work.

Like most addictions, sex addiction is more than just the physical act. The sexual rituals and outlets create a chemical dependency in the brain. These rituals can involve other people, fantasies, pornography and so on. That person uses sex as their “drug-of-choice” to escape and self-medicate in response to any difficulties or situations in their life. Having more sex is not going to heal or alleviate this chemical and behavioral addiction any more than more gambling or more alcohol will. it continues, never being satisfied until that person either self destructs or realises they need help and ask for it.

Counselling can help you learn about the true nature of your addiction and the steps you must take to start moving toward your freedom. It can help you have a better more healthy attitude and association with sex and help you develop a closer, better relationship with your partner.
