Low self esteem

Suffering from low self esteem can get in the way of achieving your full potential and personal goals. It can lead to anxiety, stress, loneliness and depression. Those with low self esteem are plagued by a negative image they have of themselves.

Our self esteem, sense of self worth, is often not so much what we think of ourselves but rather what we think other people are thinking of us. This negative self image is often rooted in childhood experiences where perhaps failures or mistakes were interpreted as failures in self worth, particularly if we were criticized or judged harshly by others.

Counselling can help overcome a lack of self esteem, build self confidence. You can learn to acknowledge strengths as well as weaknesses while maintaining a truer sense of worth. It can help you develop a more balanced and honest view of yourself as you begin to recognise your own unique qualities and skills. With a healthier level of health esteem you can bring out the best in other people without feeling threatened.
