Some ideas to help with assertiveness

The way you hold yourself speaks volumes about you. Notice how people who mumble while they look at their feet don’t exactly inspire confidence in those around them, but those who make eye contact and speak clearly do.

Here are some ideas to help with assertiveness and confidence.

    1. Keep your back straight and your chin up. Avoid fidgeting or covering your mouth when you speak. Look people in the eye when you speak. Not only does this show others that they have your attention it also shows that you want theirs.

    2. Speak slowly and clearly. Use a clear and calm voice. You don’t need to be loud to make yourself heard.

    3. Work on your appearance. If you look like you’ve just got out of bed the average person won’t take you seriously. Alternatively if you look like you’re ready to get things done, people will tend to be more respectful.

    4. If someone keeps asking after you’ve said no acknowledge that you recognize how important it must be to them but you’ve already answered them.
